The Indian stock exchanges, BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE), will remain shu today, April 10, in observance of Mahavir Jayanti 2025. Regular trading across exchanges will resume on Friday, April 11, offering market participants a mid-week pause.
Mahavir Jayanti is one of the 14 scheduled market holidays in 2025.
All market segments—including equities, derivatives, currency trading, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), and electronic gold receipts (EGR)—will remain suspended for the day. Investors are advised to plan their trades in advance, keeping the holiday schedule in mind.
Additionally, the Multi Commodity Exchange ( MCX) will also remain closed for the occasion for its morning trading session from 09:00 am - 5:00 pm, according to their website. However, the exchange will remain open for its evening session from 5:00 pm - 11:30 pm.

In the final quarter of 2025, trading holidays include Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra (October 2), Diwali (October 21–22), and Prakash Gurpurb (November 5). The year will conclude with a market holiday on December 25 for Christmas.
