Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Congress MLA Pratap Grewal on Monday raised questions in the Assembly over the unemployment data presented by the skill development and employment minister between 2018 and 2025. He expressed surprise over the sharp decline in the number of registered unemployed youth in June this year.
According to the data shared by the minister, the number of registered unemployed youth in Madhya Pradesh stood at 26.82 lakh in 2018 and rose to 33.13 lakh in 2023. However, the number reportedly dropped to 25.68 lakh by June 2025 - a figure on which Grewal cast his doubt.
The MLA also questioned the minister over giving a hefty amount to a Maharashtra-based firm tasked with providing jobs to youths even when it failed to achieve the target of ensuring jobs to 25,000 candidates.

Instead of penalising the company, the government released the payment, Grewal said, demanding action against the officials responsible.
