Nalcha (Madhya Pradesh): During his two-day visit, a senior official from the Centre Nikhil Gajrajon Saturday reached the Silotia gram panchayat under the Nalcha development block to see the progress of the Jal Nigam work going on in the district.
Here, he enquired about the working of Jal Nigam from villagers and asked if they were satisfied with the quality of construction work at the Panchayat Bhawan.
Deputy sarpanch Piyush Sonagre said that the construction firm had not compensated farmers for damaging their pipelines during the work. The officer then instructed the Jal Nigam officials to compensate the aggrieved farmers.
He also urged the villagers to put forth any complaints regarding the working of Jal Nigam. He also held discussions with a women’s self-help group about the quality of drinking water. Along with engineer Mohammad Rafiq, Gajraj also visited the drinking water tank being built in the town.
In Bilod, Gajraj sought information about pipeline connectivity work. He was informed about the scheme proposed by Jal Nigam, under which the Narmada water will reach 673 villages.
Drinking water tanks are being constructed with pipelines in 252 of these villages. Jal Nigam formed a water committee in every village in which 50% women have participated.
Jal Nigam manager Manvendra Singh and Janpad Panchayat CEO Sandeep Sharma were also present.
