Mumbai: Ahead of Ram Navami celebrations in Mumbai, the police on Saturday said that it has planned to deploy a massive security cover in city with thousands of police personnel and special teams on duty to ensure a peaceful completion of the festival on Sunday (April 6).
The Mumbai police said, 20 DCPs, 51 ACPs, 2,500 officers, 11,000 police personnel, and 9 SRPF units have been deployed. Not just in Mumbai, police across the state have been asked to be on alert.
In Nagpur, which recently saw communal clashes, all unit commanders of city police and district superintendents of police have been asked to keep the force on alert to maintain the law and order situation, police said.
Nagpur will see a grand Ram Navami procession from Poddareshwar Ram Temple and more than 4,000 police personnel will be deployed as part of the security arrangements.
Nagpur Commissioner of Police Ravindra Single speaking on the security arrangements said, "Every year when this festival approaches, we implement full security arrangements accordingly. We have conducted patrolling across the entire area. The entire route of the Shobha Yatra has been thoroughly inspected."

Additional police force will particularly be deployed in sensitive zones. The Ram Navami processions will be monitored through drone cameras in cities.
Ram Navami is one of the major festivals of Hindus, which marks the birth anniversary of Lord Rama. Lord Shri Ram is also known as Maryada Purushottam Ram, the 7th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The birth anniversary of Shri Ram is celebrated with great pomp and show across the country by following different puja rituals and traditions.
