A religious congregation commemorating the death anniversary of scholars Maulana Mirza Mohammed Athar and Maulana Mohammed Mirza Ashfaq was held at Shia College (Arts) on Saturday evening. The event featured Quran recitations by Qari Nadeem Najfi and poetic tributes by several scholars, including Professor Aziz Haider from Varanasi.
Maulana Asad Yawar from Muzaffarpur delivered the keynote address, emphasizing Islamic concepts of justice ("Adl") and prophesying equitable governance during the era of Imam Mahdi. The discourse highlighted the deceased scholars' contributions to Islamic oratory and their global religious outreach.
The program concluded with references to the martyrdom of Hazrat Sakina, granddaughter of Imam Hussain, and expressions of gratitude by organizers Maulana Ejaz Athar and Maulana Yasub Abbas. Over two dozen clerics from various madrasas attended, along with approximately 300 devotees. The All India Shia Hussaini Fund arranged traditional refreshments for attendees.
This annual gathering forms part of Lucknow's continuous tradition of scholarly remembrance within the Shia community, maintaining its significance as an intellectual and spiritual forum.
