Tufting is akin to painting with yarn. You stretch a canvas, sketch your design, and then use a tufting gun to weave yarn through the fabric, creating soft, fluffy loops that, once secured, turn into a stunning piece. And if you’re looking for a place where each stitch adds depth and beauty to your creation, then look no further, for Goa has just got its first tufting studio.
Cosy Club in Siolim is reinventing the joy of creating and offers a unique space to explore creativity. Brought to life by an incredible team, including founders Cliff Fernandes and Astrid Dias, the studio was born out of their desire to bring something fresh to the place they call home.
“Inspired by Goa’s vibrant art scene, we wanted to introduce tufting—an exciting, form that invites creativity,” the duo shares.
Astrid, a dental technologist and medical auditor at Harley Street, London, has always had a passion for art. Cliff, a former Goan footballer who played for India, discovered tufting after a football injury in London as a way to manage anxiety.
What started as a personal hobby quickly grew into a thriving business, with Cliff custom-making rugs for rappers, gamers, and clients worldwide. Now, the duo is excited to bring their creative passion to their studio in Goa.
PREMIUM EXPERIENCE
At the studio the focus isn’t just about making something, but about enjoying the process in a beautiful, relaxed environment where creativity flows naturally.
“We are a premium things to do in Goa experience, which is Goa beyond beaches vibe. We’ve had couples come for cosy , and it’s always the guys who get hooked—they love the ‘AK-47’ vibes of using the tufting gun,” the founders share, saying it’s an exciting, hands-on activity one can take home as a unique Goa souvenir.
The tufting workshops at the studio are fun, and far from boring. From the moment you step in, you feel like you’re in a comfortable, creative escape—like getting together with friends to create something amazing. “We’ve carefully designed every part of the space, from the stylish, inviting atmosphere to the hands-on, high-quality tutorials,” shares Cliff.
With top-notch guidance from the founders themselves, tufting at the studio is made and accessible even for beginners. “We take a relaxed, no-pressure approach, focusing on creating a fun and enjoyable experience. With step-by-step instructions and plenty of support, you'll quickly feel confident,” assures Astrid.

ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
So far, the founders share that the response to their tufting workshops has been absolutely amazing! “Both local and are buzzing with excitement over the concept, especially since we’re the first in Goa to bring tufting to life. It’s been incredible to watch people from all walks of life dive into the craft with such enthusiasm,” they say, adding that the support has been heart-warming.
At Cosy Club, they offer a range of workshops, from the Origin 40x40cm designs to mini 30x30 sessions. Participants can also try the unique mirror workshops, or join a cosy date where two people create a rug together.
“We even have workshops for kids to spark their creativity. Like Willy Wonka, we’re always dreaming up new tufting experiences, so there’s always something exciting to try. Whatever your skill level, our fun, relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to create something special,” claims Astrid, highlighting that one doesn’t need prior experience to try tufting at their studio.
And the possibilities are endless. Participants can create anything from stylish home like rugs and mirrors, quirky pieces like cartoon characters and also abstract art. Whether a personalised wall hanging or just playful colours, tufting allows for endless creativity. “The beauty of it is that each creation is completely your own, so you can bring your wildest ideas to life in textured yarn,” she adds.

Astrid believes that if there’s anyone thinking about trying tufting, then they just need to go for it. “You won’t regret it. It’s not your usual threading and stitching, it’s fresh and so satisfying to see your design come together. Plus, it’s super therapeutic. The process lets you unwind, get , and feel the joy of making something cool with your own hands.”
