The future is looking great for power couple Swarla, after Lisa Swain's recent proposal to Carla Connor.
While Carla wasn't quite ready to accept the big question, she made it very clear she saw a forever with the detective. But with fans desperate to know what the future holds and if they'll finally get their big wedding, Lisa actress Vicky Myers has revealed why it's a good thing the couple won't be rushing into the huge life change.
Speaking exclusively to The , actress Vicky shared her hopes for the pair where a wedding is concerned, "if they get there". Vicky is keen to see the couple develop more onscreen, and feature in more "social" settings as they navigate life together on the cobbles with their loved ones.
While she's not so keen on the introduction of a cat anytime soon to the family home, after calls amongst fans following a comment from Lisa's troublemaker teen Betsy, Vicky is keen to explore their little family some more before the wedding bells chime. Vicky would be keen to explore Lisa's backstory too, but for now she's hoping the soap focuses on Swarla's growing relationship and their future as a family on the show.
She told us: "I think a backstory would be great, but I think in time. There are so many other things that I think should be explored with the two of them and their extended family, and how they navigate life all together in their flat." Vicky referenced characters including Roy Cropper, Ryan Connor and Nina Lucas as being part of their close group.

Vicky also wants to see more scenes of the couple, and their family, being happy and "social" after months of the pair being hard at work, and featuring in plenty of drama including two hostage situations and hospital dashes. She said: "I'd like to see Lisa and Carla being a part of the community, in the Rovers.
"They're both busy, independent women so it would nice to see a more sociable side to them. Frivolous fun, going out for a drink." Vicky is pleased the pair have not rushed into marriage, as she explained why Carla turning down the proposal for now was the right thing for both of them following such huge scenes.
Vicky shared how recent events with the murder of Lisa's colleague PC Craig Tinker brought back trauma surrounding the death of her first wife Becky, and this spurred her on to grab happiness in the moment. She explained: "I think it was right under the circumstances and that's the beauty of their relationship.
"Swain, even though it seemed spontaneous, it was obviously in the moment that she thought about it, and that moment seemed like the right time to do it. But Carla being the level-headed one put it to reason and what she said was true.
"I think it's a true reflection of what exactly was happening at that time and then in the moment, assessing everything that's happened with Tinker dying and the circumstances revoking all the memories of Becky. To think I'm not gonna let this chance slip away.
"From that we know Carla is the love of Lisa's life and she wants to spend the rest of her life with her, and if that night was the end, that's it, she'd want to be with her, which is quite lovely. Who wouldn't want that?"
On that Ibiza wedding the pair teased in scenes, Vicky is keen when the time is right. She joked: "I think it would be very good. Shall we see? We can put it out there."
With Swarla fans also keen to know how Vicky was able to pull off some of the most believable sneezes in soap history, the actress told us all about it. Having seen the comments online, she said: "I know, as if that was a thing. It's several years of trying to get out of school, sorry to all my teachers."
