Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has once again stirred controversy with his remarks, after a video of his heated exchange with farmers in Dharashiv went viral. Pawar was on an inspection tour of flood-affected areas when a farmer demanded a loan waiver. The request appeared to irritate him, prompting an outburst.
Visibly angered, Pawar responded sharply, saying, “Give him the Chief Minister’s post! Do you think we’ve come here to play marbles? I started my day with a karmala at 6 a.m. You only criticize those who work. We’ve extended immense support to our sisters. Even today, we provide aid worth ₹45,000 crore every year. Farmers’ electricity bills have been waived, and we pay ₹20,000 crore for that.”
Pawar further added that while one can pretend in many situations, money matters reveal the truth. “I only say what is real. I don’t want to play politics, but we are not holding back in helping those who truly need it,” he stressed.
The Deputy Chief Minister also assured farmers that the state government will seek financial support from the Centre for flood-related damages and submit a request to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The exchange took place during Pawar’s visit to flood-hit areas in Marathwada, including Beed and nearby districts, where he inspected crop losses caused by heavy rains.
