Before the match started at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Dhoni was seen taking an interest in a robotic camera dog, which is a new technological initiative in the IPL this season. During the warm-up, the former Indian captain was looking at the gadget very closely and then gently turned it over. As the robot dog moved towards him, Dhoni picked it up and put it on the ground, due to which it got stuck there. Dhoni slowly moved away from there, after which a technical staff member came and took care of the robot.

Recently, Dhoni has taken over the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings, making him the oldest captain in IPL history. This change in captaincy happened when Ruturaj Gaikwad had to be ruled out of the season due to an elbow fracture. Dhoni's first match as captain this season was not good, where CSK suffered a crushing defeat by eight wickets at the hands of defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders.

Despite the victory in Lucknow, Chennai Super Kings are still at the bottom of the points table and have only four points. Now their next match will be against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, 20 April.
