Air fryers continue to be one of the must-have appliances for home cooks over the past few years, but cleaning them is incredibly important. By not cleaning your gadget regularly you could end up with unappetising food or the machine could become faulty.
However, one creator on TikTok shared her surefire method for ensuring all of the grease and grime in her air fryer will melt away - with no need for scrubbing. All you'll need is some dishwasher tablets. Kaye Marie said: "The quickest way to clean your air fryer in two simple steps. No fuss, no mess."
Place a dishwasher pod into the trays of the air fryer. Follow by pouring in boiling water from the kettle, making sure you don't overflow the tray so the water flows out the grate.
Allow the mixture to "marinate" in the tray for as long as possible. Kaye Marie recommended leaving the tray to soak for up to six hours.
Once you feel as though the trays have soaked long enough, rinse away all of the grime under the tap. She said: "The longer you leave it to soak, the better. If they're quite bad you may need a little bit of Fairy Liquid on a sponge for the trays.
"If you want to go the extra mile, you can do the inside with Pink Stuff."
Dishwasher tablets mixed with hot water can effectively remove grease from the appliance thanks to the alkaline salts and other chemicals contained in the tablets. The chemicals work to break down grease and food residue, while hot water helps to loosen the grease for easier removal.
Kaye Marie's video has been viewed over 119,300 times, receiving 4,869 likes and 49 comments. Other air fryer fans shared their own experiences with trying to tackle tough air fryer grime.

Another commented: "Adds dishwasher tablets to my shopping list because I always use bicarb dish soap and boiling water."
