Dave Myers' widow, Lili, made a heart-wrenching admission as she opened up about the late chef's birthday without him. After meeting in Romania in 2005, the coach and hypnotherapist moved to the UK, where she and Dave got married in 2011. Together they shared a love for travelling and motorcycles, and while they didn't welcome any children, the Hairy Biker star was a proud stepfather to Lili's children, Izabelle and Sergiu, from a previous relationship. Ahead of his 67th posthumous birthday, Lili took to Instagram with a loved-up selfie alongside Dave and admitted that she finds it difficult to talk about his death.

Dave, who was one half of The Hairy Bikers with Si King, tragically died last year after battling cancer, and while he kept the details of his diagnosis private, the TV star was open about the reality of chemotherapy. In the lengthy caption, the author penned: "We don't speak about these moments, but today I will. It would have been his birthday tomorrow." Reflecting on the day he died, Lili shared: "Holding the hand of someone you love as they leave this world changes you forever. In that intimate moment, all the noise of the world fades away, and between you and them, there is just love."

She continued: "It's the moment you realise how short and how precious is this experience called life. And how privileged you are to witness this crossing for your loved one.

"The magnitude of the whole universe collapsing in a beautiful silence in front of you, in this humble last breath.

I had this immense privilege to witness this indescribable, sacred moment, something so tragic and so beautiful, that changed my perspective on life forever."

"It was Dave's last gift to me... a reminder to live with deeper gratitude and joy for the time I've got left, and to cherish what we shared together," Lili added.

In the heartfelt post, she concluded: "Thank you, my love, for every gift you gifted me, for I'm the best version of myself because of you. Thank you for allowing me to hold your hand in life and beyond."

Dave and Lili met in Romania. As she worked in the hotel where he and Si stayed, the chef opened up about his first reaction and said, "It was love or rather lust, at first sight. Not on her part, probably! She was the manager of our hotel. As Lil showed us our rooms, she was very serious, I said, 'Cor! She's gorgeous!' But Si thought she was scary."

Before his death, Dave opened up about the incredible toll his illness took on his wife, saying that his health battle had been "all-encompassing".

Lili spoke of her devastation in the days after his death and thanking his devoted fans and saying she was "grieving with a whole nation".

In the wake of his death, there was an outpouring of grief for the beloved chef, as millions took to social media to pay tribute.

Bikers also took to the streets for a touching memorial ride in honour of Dave, with many wearing T-shirts bearing his image. Si said his friend "would have loved" the gesture.
