Homebase has confirmed a major change in more than 200 of its 'Garden Centres by Homebase' stores across the UK before Christmas.
The DIY and garden retailer has opened over 200 garden centres inside The Range superstores in 2025 after collapsing into administration at the end of last year. Homebase blamed a decline in consumer confidence and spending post-pandemic for the collapse, but later struck a deal with retail group CDS, which owns The Range, which saved 70 stores and 1,600 jobs. Rival DIY chain B&Q also took control of five branches, while a further four have been transformed into Wickes. Throughout this year, Homebase has been opening garden centres inside The Range superstores and has now confirmed it will be stocking real Christmas trees just in time for the festive season.
Customers who previously relied on the retailer to deck their halls with a real tree at Christmas can now continue to do so as Homebase will be rolling out the brand new stock from mid-November.
Garden Centres by Homebase are based in more than 200 The Range stores nationwide, so shoppers have plenty of locations to pick out their Christmas tree this year.
Shoppers will be able to choose from three Christmas tree varieties, including Norman Fir Fir, Fraser Fir and Noble Fir, as part of the brand new range for 2025.
Announcing the news on Facebook, Homebase said in a post: "Christmas is SAVED! While the headlines talk tree shortages, we're here to spread festive cheer with a fresh batch of beautiful real trees - arriving from mid-November through to December, just in time to deck your halls. Here's what's landing soon:
- Nordman Fir - soft needles and excellent needle retention
- Fraser Fir - compact shape and fresh scent (perfect for smaller spaces)
- Noble Fir (ROI only) - blue-green foliage and sturdy branches for all your sparkly ornaments
"Plus, discover stands and accessories to keep your tree looking merry and bright all season long. You'll now find Garden Centres by Homebase at The Range superstores nationwide - bringing 45+ years of gardening know-how and festive favourites all under one roof."
Homebase said its real Christmas trees are all premium grade and sustainably homegrown in the UK, and have been hand selected for superior shape, colour and festive scent. The retailer adds that its Christmas tree varieties "are grown to last longer".
The announcement comes as Homebase prepares to open a new garden centre based at Oldbury Green Retail Park in the West Midlands on Friday, November 14, which will feature the new real Christmas trees stock.
Customers can find their nearest local Garden Centre by Homebase store inside The Range online using the store locator tool.
