Meghan Markle's all-white ensemble for her surprise appearance at the Balenciaga show at Paris Fashion Week has sparked a mixed reaction from fans. Meghan attended the show on October 4 to support designer, Pierpaolo Piccioli, wearing an oversized white cape and button-down shirt and wide-legged trousers by the designer.
One fan on X wrote: "I feel bad for her because I don't think this looks good on her at all. It's swallowing her." Whereas, another claimed: "She forgot to leave the bedsheets at home."
Another X user commented on her style: "Bed sheets repurposed! They must see her coming and be laughing their heads off!"
A spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex said: "Over the years, the Duchess has worn a number of designs by Pierpaolo. They have worked closely together collaborating on design for key moments on the world stage. She has long admired his craftsmanship and modern elegance, and tonight was no different."
Some fans of the Duchess of Sussex, however, found her style appealing. One wrote: "Loooking too beautiful."
Another fan wrote: "This entire look is soooo tasty."
Meghan's attendance marks her first time at a fashion week show in over a decade.Ahead of her 2018 royal wedding with Prince Harry, the duchess previously attended New York Fashion Week and Toronto Fashion Week.
The duchess's office added: "This evening reflects the culmination of many years of artistry and friendship, reflected in her support for his new creative chapter at Balenciaga."
Meghan was spotted leaving the Hôtel Plaza Athénée in Paris ahead of the show.
Meghan was later spotted greeting fashion icon and former editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, and she was joined by her longtime friend Marcus Anderson.
Meghan and Piccioli took pictures together after the runway show, and she was later spotted arriving back at the hotel.
The duchess is last thought to have visited Europe in 2022, when she attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II alongside Prince Harry. She has not been back in the UK since.
