Police interrupts Destination X as BBC show is thrown into chaos

BBC's new globetrotting reality competition Destination X was thrown into chaos after Italian police interrupted filming. Hosted by Welsh comic Rob Brydon, the series sees 10 players embark on an international adventure across Europe, travelling in a bus with blacked-out windows to beautiful yet mysterious locations. Each episode, contestants tackle challenges to earn clues that could help them answer one key question: where in the world are they?

Players forge alliances and rivalries along the way, all hoping to take home a life-changing cash prize. At the end of Thursday's instalment (August 14) of the TV show, viewers were given a teaser for the next episode which was thrown into chaos when local police interrupted filming.

As the team approached a crossing point, Italian police appeared to pull over the bus, insisting "you have no permit". It was at this point that BBC producers asked the team: "Just bear with us please, we're having some issues with local authorities".

Officers then asked: "How many people on the bus?" before a crew member was seen talking to them before shouting: "We need to find the paperwork now". It didn't take long before fans flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share their suspicions online.

One user posted: "Not the police getting involved, my word" as another joked: "The next location is Venice jail [laughing emoji]" as a third chimed in with: "Messy TV at its finest [cry-laughing emoji]."

However, others were less convinced by the police appearance, as one user insisted: "Not falling for that! [cry-laughing emoji]" as another echoed: "Not real police I reckon." Meanwhile, a third suggested: "That police happened on the US version too" as a fourth penned: "Yeah sure there are cameras everywherer and the Italian police would definitely allow it to be filmed as they raid the bus."

The exciting turn of events comes after viewers branded the episode an "absolute waste of an episode" after Rob announced that no players would be eliminated from the reality show this evening.

It didn't take long before fans flooded to social media to share their disappointment online, as one user fumed: "What an absolute waste of an episode" as another agreed: "What an absolutely, pointless, waste of time this part of the show has been. Honestly don'e see any point to it other than filler."

Another agreed: "So if you skip this episode apart from the first five minuets you wouldn't miss any of the game process" as a third echoed: "This format is nonsense? Poor man's Traitors."
