Viewers of ITV quiz show The Chase have expressed their outrage and branded the programme a "stitch-up" after three famous faces narrowly failed to secure £142,000 for charity. Host Bradley Walsh faced criticism as Chaser Jenny Ryan prevented the celebrities from claiming the substantial prize.
The famous participants included singer Cheryl Baker, weather presenter Laura Tobin, sports commentator Jason Bell and comedian Mark Steel. While Jason was eliminated before the final round, Cheryl, Laura and Mark went head-to-head with Chaser Jenny in the Final Chase. The celebrities performed admirably, answering 19 questions correctly, though Laura anticipated this might not be sufficient to defeat the Chaser. Despite managing to push Jenny back on several occasions, she ultimately provided more correct responses within her two-minute window, meaning the celebrities departed with merely £1000 each for their chosen charities instead of the £142,000 jackpot.
As the game came to a devastating end, Brad said: "Four attempts to push back, three executed, caught with three seconds remaining, you needed one more. Do you know what that one more was?
"Jason Bell. I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to take £142,000 away," he expressed as Cheryl pleaded: "You don't have to," with Bradley adding: "I do."
Numerous viewers rushed to Twitter to highlight that Jenny appeared to receive simpler questions and that Bradley delivered her questions at a faster pace. They denounced the show as rigged.

One viewer posted: "@ITVChase... The game is blatantly fixed! What is the point?" whilst another commented: "Oh come on. Charity show yet the chaser still gets questions like 'What 3 letter word is short for magazine'. Absolute stitch up #TheChase".
A third viewer fumed: "The Chase is an absolute f**king fix. Last question to rob charities of £142k. 'What is the usual response to Oggy Oggy Oggy?' Unbelievable," and: "#TheChase What an absolute bloody fix."
A fifth chimed in: "Bradley Walsh needs to stop speeding up when asking the chaser questions on the final round. Bit of a fix really #TheChase".
Meanwhile during the programme, presenter Bradley was thrilled to witness Jason competing as he complimented his American accent and composed guidance.
