A fashion expert has shared her innovative technique for stopping or fake tan transferring onto white t-shirts. In a recent episode of the Style-ish podcast, brand marketer Maddison Sullivan-Thorpe explained how she keeps her white tees , describing the simple as a 'game-changer'.

Maddison aired her frustration over just how easily can get damaged or discoloured, especially if she's wearing makeup or has applied fake tan, or even the danger of spilling food or drink down her top. In a recent video, she said: "I was getting so frustrated because I love a white tee and a tank, but I'm just notorious for, like, either spilling something or getting my makeup on it." To solve her stain problems, she explained a friend told her about the "hairspray trick".

Maddison continued: "So you get a hairspray, you just have to make sure it's un-fragranced. Do the inside of your t-shirt and the outside of your t-shirt around the collar.

"You can also do under the arms if you're, like, prone to being a bit of a sweaty girl."

Co-host Rhiannon Joyce said: "I'm just that girl who always, this is so gross, but, like, spray tan marks under the..."

Maddison said: "See it's for that, right... So you do that and it helps eliminate the transfer from your makeup or fake tan.

"So I've been doing it for all my white tees and all my white tanks, and it is game-changing."

Hairspray can help prevent makeup transferring onto clothes by creating a barrier which minimises friction, helping your makeup or fake tan to stay in place. Before applying the hairspray to your clothes, you can help even more by using a setting spray to set your makeup.

This will help create even more of a barrier to lock in the makeup and reduce the chances of it smudging or transferring to your clothes. Basmah Qazi described her results of the hack as "clear as day".

She wrote for: "I thought the best way to see if it does anything is to spray one half of my shirt collar with hairspray and leave the other one completely product-free. I then wore the top to work, spent all morning and afternoon in it (on a 40-degree day might I add) and came home to see the results.

"That's a lie. I came home, took a long nap in the shirt and then I had a look to see if it worked. *Drum roll, please*

"It worked. It freaking worked! The hairsprayed half had zero traces of makeup, while the other side had slight foundation stains."
