Fact-Check: Did Akhilesh Yadav Attend Iftar Party But Skip Maha Kumbh 2025? No!

But...?: The claim is false.

  • Akhilesh Yadav took the holy dip during the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj on 27 January.

How did we find out the truth?: We carried out a reverse image search on the video, and found that the clip in the claim indeed showed Yadav at an iftar party in Lucknow, on 29 March.

  • To verify whether Yadav had attended the Maha Kumbh Mela, we ran a keyword search for the same.

  • It led us to a video uploaded on Live Hindustan's verified YouTube channel, where a video of Yadav taking the holy dip was published on 27 January.

  • The video was shared by several news organisations, including , , and .

  • The SP leader had also

    of him attending the religious gathering on his X (formerly Twitter) account on the same day.

Conclusion: A clip of Akhilesh Yadav at an iftar party is being shared to falsely claim that he attended iftar parties but did not go to the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela.
