Panaji: Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, chief minister Pramod Sawant and archbishop of Goa and Daman, cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao, extended their greetings to the people of Goa, especially to the Christian brethren on the occasion of Easter.
“Easter commemorates the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. In fact, the resurrection of Christ is the eternal hope and foundation of Christian life and faith. Easter is the symbol of victory over all the evil forces,” the governor said and added, “This festival gives us the valuable message of brotherhood, love, compassion and forgiveness. Let us practice the ideals of Lord Jesus Christ so as to make the world a better place to live in.”
The chief minister said, “Easter is the crucial sign and divine symbol of victory over forces of death, darkness and evil. Easter is a time to share happiness.”
He further said, “Easter reminds us to follow our conscience and practice what we can do for others. On this day, let us pledge to strive for the welfare of others and inspire people to empower people.”

The archbishop appealed to people to offer hope and support to those who are dejected, outcast, on the peripheries, and especially to the creation around.
“As I send out my wishes for a happy and grace-filled Easter, I pray that all of us, living in this beautiful state of Goa, may join together in building a society offering hope, support, and newness of life to every being around us, especially to those in need,” said Ferrao in his Easter message.

“Easter is a celebration of hope and newness in life for the whole of creation. This is what we celebrate today: that Christ offered us life beyond the tomb, and that, by rising from the dead, he offered us a share in this new life,” he said.
