Jodhpur: In a shocking incident in Jodhpur's Phalodi area, a couple allegedly slit the throats of their three children, including two daughters, before attempting to end their own lives. The couple, residents of Kolu Pabuji, poisoned their son Harish (9), daughters Kanta (5) and Taruna (3), and made them unconscious before strangling them and slitting their throats. They then attempted to end their lives by slitting their wrists.
However, the two were found unconscious at their home Tuesday morning and rushed to a hospital. They are undergoing treatment and stated to be out of danger.
Phalodi SP Pooja Awana said the police reached the spot after receiving information from family members, who found blood outside the house.
They found the husband, Shivlal Meghwal (35), and wife, Jatno Devi, lying unconscious with their wrists slit, and the children with their throats slit, said Awana.
Police rushed all of them to the hospital where the children were declared dead. Cops recovered an empty poison bottle, a blade, and a knife from the house. An FSL team examined the crime scene.
Awana said they have not ascertained the reasons for the gruesome incident and are waiting to record the statements of parents. Police said a family dispute or financial difficulties could be the reason for the two to take such an extreme action. The couple reportedly had an argument on Monday evening, police said.
