Jaipur: Amid financial difficulties over delayed govt grants, Rajasthan Sanskrit University will host its 7th convocation ceremony on Thursday, where Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will be chief guest.
The varsity's funding was suspended on Jan 27 by the finance department following allegations of financial misconduct in examinations, vehicles and tenders involving former exam controller, Durgesh Rajoriya. Officials said that the private colleges committed fraud by allowing more examinees than the allocated seats for Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications (PGDCA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy (PGDYT) courses. As a result, the institution had not disbursed March salaries to its staff.
While the vice chancellor Ram Sewak Dubey notified Raj Bhavan secretariat about the irregularities last year, and an investigative committee formed on the governor's orders found Rajoriya culpable, Dubey moved High Court in April requesting release of state govt grants.
Subsequently, the Sanskrit Education Department received instructions from Raj Bhawan and forwarded the matter to the Finance Department.
During Tuesday's court proceedings, the state government presented their response and suggested disciplinary measures against Rajoriya, according to university sources.
