Kochi: The performance of rapper Vedan, which was scheduled to be held at Vazhathope, Cheruthoni, in Idukki on Tuesday as part of the state govt's fourth anniversary celebrations, was cancelled following his arrest. Kochi city police raided his flat when he and his team were preparing for the event.
District administration officials announced the cancellation at a press conference as they decided to distance themselves from the singer.
Vedan was in the news when he urged youngsters not to use synthetic drugs and warned them about its negative impacts.
A state-level celebration as well as Ente Keralam exhibition and trade fair are being organized to mark the LDF govt's fourth anniversary. Ente Keralam exhibition and trade fair is being organized at Vazhathoppu VHS grounds in Cheruthoni from April 29 to May 5.
The opposition is boycotting the celebrations, claiming that the state is going through one of its worst-ever financial crises. The opposition has alleged that the govt was spending Rs 15 crore on hoardings featuring the chief minister's image even when the basic demands of workers across various sectors remain unmet.
