Putting an end to days of swirling speculation, Bollywood star Alia Bhatt was spotted at Mumbai airport in the early hours of Friday morning, en route to the French Riviera to make her much-anticipated red carpet debut at the Cannes Film Festival.
Dressed in a casual yet striking ensemble—an oversized blazer, baggy jeans, and a white tank top—the actress cut a relaxed figure as she made her way through the terminal amid the media frenzy.
Her appearance comes after a storm of rumours suggesting that the actress chose to skip Cannes altogether in a show of solidarity with India amidst political tensions. Earlier, reports had suggested that Bhatt would walk the red carpet on 13 May at the festival’s opening ceremony, but her no-show sparked online debate and theories, with some going on to suggest that she will make an appearance during the closing ceremony.
While some unverified reports claimed the delay was politically motivated, others speculated that her wardrobe failed to meet Cannes’ last-minute dress code, however, neither have been officially confirmed.
Bhatt laid all speculation to rest on Thursday night, by sharing a photo of her travel essentials which she captioned, "I'm worth it" and added, "Off we go."
Alia’s Cannes debut marks a milestone in her ongoing association with a global beauty brand. She joins a long list of Indian celebrities who have already graced the red carpet this year, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Janhvi Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari, Ishaan Khatter, Urvashi Rautela, and Anupam Kher, among others.
On the work front, the actress has been keeping busy with her many work commitments. She has been shooting her next film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali titled 'Love and War'. The film will see her reuniting with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. She is also awaiting the release of her spy film 'Alpha'.
