Online ticketing platform BookMyShow has issued a statement addressing allegations that it delisted comedian Kunal Kamra and his shows amid political controversy . Responding to Kamra's open letter on X, BookMyShow clarified that it has not removed Kamra or his performances from its platform, emphasising that decisions regarding show listings are made by organisers or venues.

In its statement, BookMyShow highlighted its role as a neutral facilitator of ticket sales, operating in compliance with Indian laws. "Facts on our role have been misrepresented in the public domain. Our role is to provide a platform for ticket sales of live shows, and it is the decision of the organiser or the venue to list or delist their shows," the company stated.

Kunal Kamra recently called out online BookMyShow, demanding clarity on his status after being delisted amid political pressure. In a detailed post on X, Kamra requested that the platform either reinstate his ability to list shows or provide access to audience data collected from his performances.

In his recent post, Kamra’s directly addresses BookMyShow’s role in the live entertainment industry, acknowledging its need for state cooperation. “I understand that you need a cordial relationship with the state, and I know that Mumbai is a major hub for live entertainment. Without the state’s cooperation, iconic shows like Coldplay and Guns N’ Roses wouldn’t be possible,” he wrote. However, he criticized the platform’s exclusive control over show listings, which he claims restricts artists’ access to their audiences.
