Lords to Host Women’s T20 World Cup Final Once Again

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be hosted in England, with the final match scheduled at the legendary Lords Stadium in London. This marks the third consecutive ICC tournament final to be played at Lords, following the 2017 Women’s ODI World Cup and the 2019 Men’s ODI World Cup, both of which were won by England.

The upcoming edition is set to be a historic moment in women’s cricket, with Lords once again becoming the center stage for a world champion to be crowned.

Tournament Schedule and Venues Revealed

The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will take place from 12 June to 5 July 2026, and will feature 12 teams, split into two groups of six. A total of 20 league matches will be played, followed by two semi-finals and the grand final at Lords.

The six confirmed venues for the tournament are:

• Lords, London

• Old Trafford, Manchester

• Headingley, Leeds

• Edgbaston, Birmingham

• Hampshire Bowl, Southampton

• The Oval, London

• Bristol County Ground, Bristol

ICC President Jay Shah remarked that choosing Lords for the final was an “ideal decision” given its historic significance and legacy in hosting major finals.

12 Teams to Compete: Qualification Update

Out of the 12 teams, eight have already qualified for the tournament:

• India

• Australia

• England

• New Zealand

• South Africa

• West Indies

• Pakistan (via ICC T20 rankings)

• Sri Lanka (via ICC T20 rankings)

The remaining four teams will be determined through global qualifiers, with a cut-off date for rankings set as October 21, 2024.

Lords: A Lucky Ground for England

History shows that England has never lost an ICC tournament final at Lords:

• In 2017, England won the Women’s ODI World Cup at the venue.

• In 2019, the Men’s ODI World Cup final was famously clinched by England in a dramatic finish.

With the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup final returning to Lords, the stage is set for a potential third ICC title on home turf for England’s women’s team.
